Ultrafast Laplace NMR in biochemistry
Bidragets beskrivning
Hyperpolarized Ultrafast Laplace NMR (UF-LNMR) increases simultaneously both the time efficiency and sensitivity of multidimensional relaxation and diffusion experiments by several orders of magnitude. The method enables monitoring fast molecular processes in real time and makes much lower concentrations detectable. It provides unique information about the dynamics of molecules non-invasively, without exogenous tracer substances, and even inside opaque samples. This project aims at exploiting the high efficiency and sensitivity of hyperpolarized UF-LNMR in the investigation of important molecular processes in biochemistry. We will study cancer cell and brain metabolism to better understand the development of cancers, and aerosols to unravel their role in climate change. Furthermore, we will investigate exosomes, which are important in intracellular signaling as well as in biomarker and drug carrier applications, and performance of proteins in essential functions within organisms.
