Novel post-transcriptional pathway controlling cell growth versus differentiation decision

Bidragets beskrivning

In this work we investigate the role of the minor spliceosome regulation of cellular differentiation. Our earlier data has indicated that this post-transcriptional system is downregulated during neuronal differentiation and we have experimentally shown that this downregulation is essential for successful terminal differentiation. We will use neuronal cell lines and experimental manipulation to define genes and cellular pathways involved in this regulation. We we will also use other differentiation systems to investigate the generality of the regulation. Finally, we also investigate the role of a novel component of the minor spliceosome in this process. Together our research will define a novel layer of cell differentiation control that will an impact not only to basic research but also biomedical research and diagnostics.
