Nordic DeltaCon Trial: Non-operative treatment versus reversed total shoulder prosthesis in patients sixty five years of age and older – a prospective, randomized controlled trial

Bidragets beskrivning

Proximal humerus fracture (PHF) is one of the most common fractures in older adults. Non-displaced fractures may be treated non-operatively with a sling and active rehabilitation. Multi-fragmented and displaced fractures are often treated with a locking plate, hemi- or reverse-prosthesis. There is a scarcity of research on the effectiveness of the operative versus non-operative treatment of PHF. Regardless of the substantial costs involved and the lack of effectiveness of reverse prosthesis after PHF, it has been accepted as a current method of care in the US. This trial is a prospective, randomized controlled trial with a multi-center and multi-nation setting in which we compare non-operative treatment with reversed prosthesis after displaced PHF in patients aged 65 through 85 years.
