1000 linkage maps project: A comprehensive catalogue of recombination variation
Bidragets beskrivning
Genetic recombination, a process that produces new allelic combinations by reshuffling DNA between maternal and/or paternal chromosomes, is almost universal in multicellular organisms. Recombination is accelerating response to selection as it is a major source of new allele combinations that can affect the fitness of the progeny. Here we propose a rigorous computational pipeline to characterise recombination variation by extending applicant's state-of-the-art linkage mapping software Lep-MAP3 and Lep-Anchor. With this pipeline, we establish a database of recombination variation by analysing new and publicly available data. Studied species include, e.g. bony fish (Osteichthyes), butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera), and flowering plants (Angiospermae). Also the genetic basis of recombination will be addressed and validated.
