Psychosocial determinants of eating behaviour, weight management and quality of life – Personalized approaches to promoting healthy eating
Bidragets beskrivning
The living environment in the current Western societies promotes weight gain and related metabolic diseases. The present multidisciplinary project aims to produce novel scientific knowledge that can be used to develop a personalized approach to promoting healthy eating based on individual's psychological and socioeconomic characteristics. In addition, the aim is to investigate 15-year changes in health-related quality of life after weight loss surgery and to identify factors (e.g. those related to eating behaviour) that predict these changes. These issues are investigated using three large quantitative cohort and intervention studies conducted in Finland and in other European countries. Together the studies include more than 10 000 participants. The project is conducted at the University of Helsinki and its long-term objective is to increase health and well-being in different segments of the population.
