Energy-Efficient Radio Access: Methods and Optimization
Akronym
EERA
Bidragets beskrivning
The global trend of digitalization and the internet of everything (IoE) paradigm require pervasive wireless connectivity. The rapidly increasing data traffic calls for larger bandwidths and for adoption of large antenna arrays, while for improved sustainability the energy-efficiency of wireless communications and network operation should improve by an order of magnitude. The objective of the project is thus to develop new scientific knowledge and novel engineering solutions to enable energy-efficient physical and link layers with related radio transceiver and resource allocation technologies for the future 5G and beyond mobile radio access networks. The practical exploitation and technology transfer to real use and society are done via joint efforts with collaborating companies. International scientific collaborators include UC Santa Barbara, Univ. Luxembourg and the Weissman Institute of Science.
