The Multilayer Brain: Optimized multilayer network representations for the human brain in health and disease
Bidragets beskrivning
I will study human brain connectivity, particularly functional networks describing the similarity of brain function at different areas. The structure of such networks strongly depends on how we define the brain areas. Definition inaccuracies may distort the conclusions about brain function. I will develop a method for defining optimized brain areas. With this method, I will construct networks from different neuroimaging datasets (MEG, EEG, fMRI). I will investigate changes in these networks over time, differences between imaging modalities, and the effects of Alzheimer's disease on the network structure. My methodology will contribute to more reliable investigation of the human brain with several imaging modalities. My results will lay basis for new diagnostic and therapeutic tools for Alzheimer's disease. I will work at Aalto University's Computer Science department and at the Center for Biomedical Technology (Madrid, Spain). Further information: onervakorhonen.wordpress.com/
